  1. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 July 2024

I came into hospital with an asthma attack and stayed over night to be observed. I was in a very stressed out and bad mood coming in as I was struggling to breathe properly and I had already been dismissed by a doctor in another facility who said I was fine. As soon as I started the triage process I was completely reassured and settled down as all the staff who helped me were extremely comforting and helpful. Thank you so much to anyone who helped me during this stay, you are all exceptional!

I was at the ER at the QEH June 20,2024 and I was so pleased with how I was treated. The Dr., nurses and support staff were very efficient and kind. They explained everything to me thoroughly and saw to it that I understood what was taking place at all times.  I had a very pleasant experience! There was very little wait time! Thank you

My GP referred me to the, Urgent Surgical Assessment Unit. The staff couldn't have been nicer and helpful. I really appreciate the care I was given. I understand the pressures on the staff and I know they all do a very hard job. What a wonderful hospital and thank goodness for everyone that works there. Thank you all!!!

My son received wonderful care in the A&E department today. The doctor was excellent and all the nursing staff were very friendly and competent. I greatly appreciate the hard work of the NHS staff under not easy working conditions!

  5. Review titled Professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Joy Larrard - Posted on 04 July 2024

I arrived at acute receiving unit on Wednesday the 26th June at 1320 and was seen very quickly by the triage nurse, despite not seeing a doctor until 2240, I can’t fault the professionalism and kindness shown to me. I first seen by a doctor and after that I was looked after by the consultant until cardiologist, came on duty at 7am on Thursday morning, who arranged for my transfer to the Golden Jubilee. I would like to pass on my thanks to them, for the kindness and professionalism they showed, when looking after me.

  6. Review titled What a disgrace of a health system

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Anne H - Posted on 07 June 2024

Broken down and unkept A & E. Don’t even have a microphone to call patients over the noise of the waiting room. Not enough chairs for the patients. After bring seen waited over 5 hours to get X-ray and blood results. Broken system.

Dear Anne, I am sorry to hear of the negative experience you had whilst in our department. We try to keep the area as clean and tidy as possible but this can be quite difficult during periods of peak activity as at times the congestion can lead to standing room only. Our tanoy system is utilised for announcing emergency calls to staff in the department and on occasion for communicating with colleagues and patients, however, it would not be suitable to use for calling each and every patient in the waiting area as it would potentially block the channel when required in an emergency. I apologise once again for your poor experience and thank you for feeding back to us, I hope you have now received the treatment you required and are recovering well following your recent illness. 7. Review titled Great experience throughout, disappointing discharge service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 July 2024

I recently attended the Emergency Dept. following an ankle injury and I was admitted to Ward 10d for an operation. All staff across both areas, and the theatre, were outstanding. Particular thanks to Ward 10d for all their care and attention as, thankfully due to the short waiting times in the Emergency Dept., I spent nearly the entirety of my stay in Ward 10d. It was my first inpatient stay in hospital which was unsettling for me at first, but being an National Health Services worker myself in a different health board I am familiar with the routines and pressures, and with that in mind I must say that the Ward 10d staff are an absolute credit to the National Health Services so many thanks to them. My only complaint comes from my discharge process. I was seen by physio and upright from 9.30am when I was then told by my consultant I could be discharged. I was told I would be moved into a waiting room to await my discharge prescription with a recliner to elevate my ankle as I was less than 24 hours post surgery at this point. However within 10 minutes of being on the recliner, I was moved onto a chair and the recliner moved elsewhere. I then went on to sit in this position for 5 hours awaiting my discharge prescription. I went 7 hours without analgesia as I was unable to call for assistance as the room I was in did not have a buzzer and I was still awaiting my discharge prescription. I was in excruciating pain from the position I was in. I appreciate the pressures the ward are under to get patients out of rooms etc. however I would still expect patients comfort with leg elevation/bed rest and analgesia to be a priority when less than 24 hours post surgery with metalwork. The nursing assistants were fantastic at offering me diet and fluids and doing their best to keep me updated, and I could tell the nurses were working tirelessly. However unfortunately the pressures behind the scenes let me down hugely.

  8. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma bateman - Posted on 24 May 2024

Was seen today 24/05/2024 and had my grandson with me and I cannot praise the staff . Had my ecg by a wonderful lady who involved my grandson throughout and when I was being seen by the consultant she kept his chatty self occupied with drawings and stickers. He and myself left feeling elated at the amazing patient care inside out. What a credit to cardiology she is . Wonderful lady with impeccable people skills. Also had a thorough consult which was explained in depth with compassion and care . 5 stars and more.

  9. Review titled Fabulous consultant and wonderful support staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hippy Lassie - Posted on 02 June 2024

Attended a check-up appointment following hip surgery I had several years ago. My surgeon is consistently fabulous - a Superman Surgeon, while also being wonderfully personable. The support staff, receptionists, cleaners, nurses - working so hard on a bank holiday (27 May) - also need special mention. They were so friendly and helpful. I would like to highlight, especially, the woman who I think was the main nurse working at the orthopaedic station that morning. She had a lovely manner about her, and I noticed how well and gently she was guiding and encouraging a young trainee nurse from a local university, who had recently started a placement at the hospital. Well done everyone. You are all appreciated!
